Brandon Heights Village I - 55 and Older The first phase of Brandon Heights Village consists of 60 units and has been designated a 55 and older development. HUD defines a "55 and Older" development as one where at least one person in 80 per cent of the occupied units is 55 or older and adheres to a policy that demonstrates an intent to house persons who are 55 or older. Brandon Heights Village I adheres to this policy. The remaining 20% of the units can be occupied by residents who are 55 and older or other tenants without children. It is against the Fair Housing Rules to discriminate against families in all other developments except housing designated for older persons. See the HUD Policy on this subject. The rural housing office has also provided an information brochure which describes this HUD policy for all of their developments which are designated "55 and older" developments.
